Water Based Acrylic Deck Adhesive is a non-flammable, acrylic resin based product specifically developed to bond fleece backed polymeric roof membrane to a range of roof deckings. The adhesive develops excellent strength over time, making it suitable for use on flat roofs conforming to current building regulations and where if needed an efficient damp proof course or vapour barrier exists. This high-strength, acrylic based adhesive allowing for fast, effective bonding of EPDM membranes to timber flat roofing substrates. Offering superior peel strengths without solvents or strong odours.

Coverage
5 Litres (covers approx 15 to 20sqm)
10 Litres (covers approx 35 to 40sqm)
15 Litres (covers approx 50 to 60sqm)
20 Litres (covers approx 60 to 80sqm)

Preparation

  1. Surfaces should be clean, dry, frost free and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants.

  2. For timber and composite boards the surface must be sound and not be degraded.

  3. An effective vapour or damp membrane should be incorporated in the roof structure especially where the roof is insulated. Effective roof venting should be provided to ensure that condensation and trapped moisture are allowed to escape.

Application

  1. Applied using a medium pile roller to achieve to an approximate coverage rate of 3-4m² / litre. A larger quantity of adhesive is necessary for open texture and rough surfaces.

  2. The adhesive has a long effective open time, ranging from approx. 5 to 15 minutes after application assuming average UK weather conditions. The roof sheet should be laid into the adhesive during this period and pressed firmly into the adhesive with a broom or roller.

  3. The effective open time range will be reduced by higher temperatures in the summer months. Care should be taken to ensure the membrane is laid into the adhesive before membrane grabs.

  4. Regular checks should be made to ensure the adhesive completely transfers to the reverse of the sheet and is bedded in place after consolidating. The roof sheet should be pressed into the wet adhesive to ensure full adhesion, smooth membrane and remove any trapped air.

Should I use WBA or PU Adhesive? In 75% of cases WBA Adhesive should be used to adhere the membrane to the roof deck. WBA Adhesive must be used to adhere to all vertical services. WBA Adhesive can be used in damp conditions as long as the following conditions are met: Surfaces should be clean, dry, frost free and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants.

Can I go over existing felt with WBA? No, You would not be able to adhere the membrane to felt using WBA. WBA needs a pourous surface to bond to. Felt will not absorb the WBA and therefore it will never bond to your pre existing surface.

WBA Adhesive will bond EPDM membrane to a range of conventional timber roof surfaces e.g. Plywood, OSB

All boards should be resistant to moisture but not sealed with adhesive repellent waxes or other non absorbent systems. Certain roof surfaces may not be suitable for use with this WBA, for example, non porous roof decks or those of low vapour permebaliity i.e Metal or existing GRP
