    EPDM Rubber Roofing FAQ's

Do I need any tools for installing a rubber roof?

specialist-tools-epdm-ruuber-roof

When it comes to installing an EPDM rubber roof correctly, you may need a few tools to achieve the best possible results.

A rubber roof system can last up to 50 years, making it one of the best flat roof materials for your property. For most flat roofing systems, the tools you’ll need usually are a paint roller, a paint brush, scissors and a mini roller.

Will I need any specialist tools for a rubber roof installation?

Although you won’t need any specialist tools for installing a rubber roof, a contractor grade silicone seam roller will greatly help when it comes to installing your EPDM rubber.

This tool is ideal for compressing the flashing and seam tapes, as well as when the process involves joining a membrane together. However, if you’re installing just one sheet of rubber membrane, you should only need the following basic roofing tools:

  • Scissors. A pair of heavy duty membrane scissors will greatly help in cutting any excess EPDM rubber when it comes to installing it onto your flat roof.
  • EPDM Roofing Brush. When it comes to applying the EPDM primer, a roofing brush is essential to get the job done right.
  • Paint Roller and Tray. This is useful for applying a water-based deck adhesive on surfaces such as a timber roof deck.
  • Brass Penny Roller. This roller is specifically used to pressure onto the rubber membrane and pressure sensitive tapes

At Rubber Roofing Direct, we also offer a complete EPDM rubber roof installation kit that contains everything you need for applying a rubber membrane onto your flat roof.
