Although installing an EPDM rubber roof is far easier and doesn’t require any specialist tools, the conditions have to be dry.
When installing the EPDM rubber membrane to the surface, the installation usually requires a combination of adhesives, primers and tapes. If the surface is damp or wet, the EPDM products and membrane won’t successfully adhere to the surface.
Furthermore, if the membrane and products haven’t correctly bonded to the surface, there is an increased chance of moisture being trapped, which could lead to negative effects to the overall performance of the flat rubber roof.
We recommend installing a rubber roof on a dry day that isn’t too cold. A number of products, such as adhesives and primers are more difficult to use due to setting times and condensation forming on the surface of solvent-based adhesives
This is because the substance used won’t form a strong bond with the surface and could leave your roof at risk from peeling away. How do you fit a rubber roof?
It’s incredibly important that the surface you plan to bond the rubber membrane too is dry and clear of any debris before beginning the application. Simply using a broom or brush to sweep the roof clear will make sure the surface is smooth and clear for the EPDM rubber to be applied too.
