Installation Process

  • The surface that the Contact Bonding Adhesive is being applied too should be cleaned and dry.

  • It is very important to buff the splice joints/surface of the membrane that needs to be bonded.

  • The application of the Polygomma® Contact Bonding Adhesive should be poured onto the surface and spread with a rubber blade/wiper. You should ensure that it is applied evenly and covers the area. This should e allowed to dry for 5-10 minutes.

  • The two surfaces should be pressed well to get a strong bond.

  • We recommend that you use a roller across the surface. This ensures that there are no bubbles or trapped air. For the best possible results, apply some weight onto the surface.

How long does the Contact Bonding Adhesive take to set?
The time it takes is dependent on the porosity of the surface. The maximum bond strength is estimated to occur after 24-48 hours.

Do I need any specialist tools?
No specialist tools are required for its application. We have a wide range of products such as; a roller set, a brush and primer that is needed to ensure the Contact Bonding Adhesive is applied properly.

Does Polygomma or Rubber Roofing Direct provide a guarantee?
Rubber Roofing Direct provides a 20-year contractor warranty on all Polygomma membranes. More information can be found here.

How should Polygomma® Contact Bonding Adhesive be stored?
The Contact Bonding Adhesive should be stored with the lid of the container closed tightly, and stored in a covered area and away from direct sunlight.
