ClassicBond® Contact Bonding Adhesive is a high strength solvent based adhesive that is used to secure the EPDM membrane around the perimeter of the roof deck. This bonding adhesive is suitable for various surfaces including timber, brickwork, metal, PVC and concrete.

For commercial installations over 100 square meters, the entire roof area should be bonded with ClassicBond® Contact Bonding Adhesive.

The ClassicBond® Contact Bonding Adhesive is great for bonding EPDM membranes to horizontal and vertical roofs. Best applied with a medium pile roller; no specialist tools required.

Coverage:

  • 1L covers approx 1 to 2 square meters

  • 2.5L covers approx 4 to 5 square meters

  • 5L covers approx 7 to 10 square meters

  • 7.5L covers approx 10 to 13 square meters

  • 10L covers approx 15 to 20 square meters

  • 15L covers approx 25 to 30 square meters

  • 20L covers approx 35 to 40 square meters

Preparation:

  • Roofing surfaces should be clean and free from dust, grease and loose materials.

  • The surface of timber and composite boards must be sound and not degraded.

  • Ensure adhesive is stirred before use.

  • Being in storage of temperatures over 30°C for long periods of time can affect quality.

Application:

  • Applied using a short pile roller or brush to achieve a thin coating on both surfaces. A larger quantity of adhesive is necessary for open texture and rough surfaces.

  • Before bonding the materials, ensure the solvent content is evaporated. Time may range from approx. 5 to 15 minutes after application assuming average UK weather conditions.

  • Take time to align the ClassicBond® membrane sheet to the surface to be mated. Apply pressure using a roller to remove any trapped air.

  • Trim away any excess membrane.
